A
six month study tour to many galleries through out the world researching
my roots as an artist was the catalyst and inspiration for the creation
of gUpbeat Neopoph a movement which is gaining momentum in Australia,
China and in Japan.
It began many years ago as a long journey through Abstract Expressionism
This cocoon gradually shed as it travelled and burst into being with new
understanding and joy. The discovery of a new love for Pop Art became
my centre of interest.
In 1999 I became a student of Graham Nickson, dean of The New York Studio
School in New York. We travelled in Italy transcribing the works of great
masters. This was a wonderful time in my career and also a learning experience.
I am not a traditional painter. It was in New York that I became interested
in Pop and especially Neopop.
On my return to Australia I held the first exhibition of Neopop in the
year 2000. This eventually evolved into gUpbeat Neopoph because it is
cheerful and optimistic. The princess of Neopop began to appear in my
work at about this time. She is a storyteller, a quintessentially Australian,
yet multicultural figure with a futuristic glance introducing the viewer
to her many new experiences.
Our Company gRedlips Studioh directed by Mr Thomas Heint has recently
completed its third exhibition in Ginza Tokyo Japan. In April 2006 our
first book on Upbeat Neopop was successfully launched at Sudo Art Museum
Tokyo. Some of the work from our recent show has been included in a group
show at The Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in Ueno in August 2006 and 2007
and also sales at the Shanghai Art Fair 2006. We still maintain an Australian
profile through Art Collector and Art and Australia Magazine but currently
we are mainly focused on our market overseas to push our boundaries and
concepts at an international level.
My name is Rae Heint and our company is Redlips Studio Pty. Ltd.
